About Me & My Counseling Practice
Cynthia Munz, M.S.
Licensed Marriage &
After raising our 2 sons, I returned to graduate school to complete a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. While there, I also completed my licensure as a public school counselor (K-12). I have worked in a variety of settings as a counselor, including a public school, a foster care agency, a college career student center, Minirth-Meier clinics, New Life Clinics, Meier Clinics, and in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families, with a variety of issues. I recently contributed to the writing of the book You Might Be a Narcissist If . . . How to Identify Narcissism in Ourselves and Others and What We Can Do About It with Lisa Charlebois, L.C.S.W., and Dr. Paul Meier.
I strive to create a safe therapeutic environment, in which my clients can begin to learn trust, in me, in themselves, and perhaps, in God. We can then start to explore together their concerns, fears, and wounds that have kept them frozen, unable to reach a place of quiet and peace within, and of living unconfident and unsatisfied lives outwardly. Within this safe environment, my clients learn to listen to their hearts, for from there flow the issues of life. They then learn to be more intentional, positive, and genuine in their relationships, communicating more clearly and listening with more empathy.
It is my great privilege to see my clients reach their goals, and live more fruitful, realistic, and connected lives, as they face their challenges, and learn to walk through the middle of their fears and hurts with the company of a caring therapist and a few trusted friends. They finally begin tasting the freedom of being themselves as they experience breaking free from the chains that kept them isolated, unsure and alone.
I work with many issues, some of which are:
- life transitions
- parent-child conflicts
- chronic pain survivors
- spiritual abuse
- communication difficulties
I enjoy working in my yard, walking, reading, and traveling.
Generally, I work in the Placerville office most weekdays, and in the Gold River office on Wednesdays, between the hours of 12-7 p.m. This schedule can vary so please call me at 530-391-2295 or at 530-344-0479 (for Placerville) to schedule a meeting or to gain more information.
It is my practice to have my clients come to our first session 15 minutes early and fill out my initial paperwork. We usually complete the intake form together in session.
