About Me & My Christian Counseling Practice
Patty Yule, MS
Life is an uncertain adventure!
In spite of life’s uncertainty, we can find joy in the journey. I count it a privilege to work with you as you seek to grow and heal from the suffering in this life. Through learning new skills and habits, it is possible to become more confident and content with what is. That is what therapy is all about. I offer a place to come and be fully accepted for who you are while you go about the difficult work of growing and becoming a person living wholeheartedly. Troubling thoughts and feelings are a natural part of being human, but we seldom get a guide book as to how to navigate through them. You are not alone in the pain you may be experiencing. My job is to come alongside you as you discover ways to heal and grow so you can move through life’s challenges with tools to help you accept and manage them, and ultimately find meaning and purpose in them.
I work with adults, children, teens and couples. My previous work in elementary teaching and current work as a youth director with junior and senior high students further aids my counseling work with the whole family. I am committed to working with individuals and families incorporating a variety of strategies and interventions as they fit the individual client(s). I especially enjoy helping couples rediscover the joy in their relationship that may have eroded through the years of difficult circumstances and unintentional negative patterns of interaction. Through 30 years of marriage and raising one son, I continue to practice facing life with courage and self-compassion through faith.
Some of the issues I work with are depression (including Bipolar spectrum disorders) and anxiety disorders (including PTSD), relationship issues, ADHD (including adult ADD), grief and loss, infertility and adoption, personal and spiritual growth issues, and life transitions (i.e. midlife adjustments, aging parents, empty nest, blending families, etc.). I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and find it often helps people make progress in areas previously resistant to change. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and various therapeutic activities are present in my treatment plans. Always, my top priority is YOU!
